We are equal partners." The wife is free to explore her chosen calling and career, while still feeling feminine and motherly. The husband, on the other hand, is free to be compassionate and affectionate, but he is still masculine and fatherly. In this kind of marriage, both husband and wife have equal voice

I think the right term would be " marriage is a triad" or "marriage takes three". I even remember a poem to that effect from years ago. It is the proper way I think to look at marriage. Its a covenant between two people and God, and the two people become one. They each have different but very equal roles. Did you ever see in the Bible that men are commanded to love their wives, but wives are not commanded to love their husbands? (yet most of us do of course). There are subtle differences that make it all very interesting.

I like to think so. My husband and I are partners and never do things simply because "that's what the wife/husband does", and I think this is the trinity partnership God had in mind, not the outdated one involving unquestioning submission on the wife's part.

Careful you are treading on holy ground the trinity is, God the father, God the son and God the holy spirit ! Man or woman is nowhere in the mix.
