The ∞ means large without bound or infinite. The ∩ symbol if pointed down means intersected with, facing up means a union with and on it's side is a subset of. Some of the symbols can be accessed by holding the alt key down while typing the ASCII codes for them on the key pad on the right of the keyboard.

The sideways 8 is a symbol for infinity. About the other, the wide u is called a union which is used in The Set theory and there is another symbol which is an upside down wide u - that would be a intersection. It is also used in The Set theory.

The "wide U" probably stands for the union of sets. The union of two sets A and B is the set of elements which belong to either A or B or both.
"8 laying on its side" denotes infinity.

The sideways 8 is a symbol for infinity. About the other, I can't answer off hand since it may be a symbol and I need to know the context in which it is used.
