OK, I I just got a new female dalmatian lyretail molly. I added her to the tank a few minutes ago, and my male dalmatian lyretail molly is chasing her. Is he trying to mate with her? He never takes intrest in my female silver molly. Should I remove him from the tank? HELP!!!

There is a very good chance that the male is already trying to spawn with the female. The other possibility is that the male is showing aggression because there is a new molly in his territory. Some males will show a more dominant behavior like that. Keep an eye on them and if the female is suffering from the aggression you need to either remove the male and mix up your decorations then reintroduce the male or, you need to get another female to divide the attention of the male up. Mollies are best kept in groups of 1 male to 3 or 4 females anyway.

I have kept and bred mollies so please don't hesitate to email me with any more questions.

He is courting the female. This aggression can be lessened by keeping 2+ females for each male. Fish have the ability to differentiate between colors. Some fish will only show interest in their species with similar coloring. That is why it didn't go after your Silver Mollies.

Yes, he's most likely trying to mate with her. It might be a good idea to get rid of him or move him to another tank, he will harrass her to no end, and she could die from it. Or, if your tank is large enough, you could add another female or two.
