There are always going to be lobbyists, there is no way around that. Ridding ourselves of those who have been in office too long would solve many of the problems that we face today. Also, enacting term limits, thus not allowing them the time nor option to sell us out.

As voters, we have got to move ahead and quit being complacent. Study the voting records of those who supposedly represent you, find out who they're receiving their campaign funding from. It's time to get our heads out of the sand and realize that no matter who becomes our next President, that as long as we allow corrupt representation to remain in office, nothing will change.

This has to be dealt with in a nonpartisan way!

As long as it cost millions to run we will never be rid of special interest groups. As long as there are millions of dollars in back door bribes we are stuck with what we got. As long as 99% of the lawers make it look bad for the rest, the lawmakers in Washington will never stop special interest groups. Peace

Not all special interest groups are bad, greedy or want to do wrong. The ACLU and NRA are special interest groups. We don't need to get rid of them, but make their transactions public knowledge. We could possibly start a non-government, publicly accessible, watch-dog group.

Some one suggested that in the light of our new communications systems that we base politicians in their home districts and they can vote from a secure terminal with a link to Washington .
This would force lobbyists to be in every single district to try and work their magic . Keep the politicians closer to the voters and possibly paying more attention .

Ron Paul and Kucinich can manage without these groups. And most others can't live without them.

outlaw contributions from groups and enforce a system where all contributions are made public and can only be made individual citizens who are register to vote. That way everything is transparent.

No, we are not agreed about that.

Will you please explain how somebody is ever going to "do away with" special interest groups?
