I'm 39 weeks it feels like my bones are being pulled apart in weird directions...no contractions. Very little pelvic pain. I am not dilated AT ALL. But, the hip pain is awful. There's definitely a difference than the ligaments. Any advice or insight?

I can tell the difference between tendons and ligaments and all. This is my bones that I feel.

In reference to where, it hurts directly on my side right in the middle of my hips.

could be sciatica. Its hard to say when u didnt state where exactly the pain was located...I mean, I know u said hips, but WHERE in ur hips? sciatica if thats what it is (and I think it might be) is a pain in a nerve (the sciatic nerve) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sciatic_nerve that runs along the backs of ur legs...most of the time u will feel the pain in ur hip/butt area. It can be very painful and debilitating. I have had it with each pregnancy. My advice is to use a heating pad....warm baths...stretches.....and tylenol. It will all be over soon

wow . same thing. i have a now 5 month old and the last 2 months of my pregnancy were horrible whenever i sat and then tried to walk again the pain was unbearable i looked like a penguin trying to keep pressure off of them. sometimes one side would hurt worse so you can imagine how i walked. plus i walked a half an hour to work everyday up until i was 36 weeks. no car. but when my baby was born it was a million times worse because even though i had all the pain my hips still didnt widen as much as they needed to and every time the baby pushed to come out she would hit my bones and it was just killer. but she finally made it out. cord around her neck swallowed her first movement, and was lifeless. but after 5 monutes or so they got her to whimper. but i guess tylenol worked the best. no hip pain since and my baby is healthy now. and i am pregnany again i hope it will be much easier this time. anything is better than 22 hours

your bones are kind of being pulled apart. Your body secrets this hormone that softens your pelvic bones to prepare for the birth.
I actually have rheumatiod arthritis and on top of that it is soooo painful. I can't hardly walk at all.
It feels like when you walk that your bones are just bending or giving. It hurts me enough that it makes me a little nasueas.
All I can really say is that it hurts bad and there's not much you can do about it except stay still.

when i was pregnant my hips felt the same way. The reason is because your hips are widening for that great moment of labor. My pain was so bad that i had trouble getting in and out of bed, moving around in bed, etc. I just had to bear the pain. But don't worry it'll be over, my pain seriously went away as soon as my son was born. One thing that helped was my husband massaging my hips and thighs.

all your tendons loosen in anticipation for delivery, and it sucks. Try a warm bath (provided you have someone to help you get out!!!) and sleep with a pillow between your legs.

at 39 weeks the pain will be over soon!! Good luck!
