no, you look like you are reading a book.

Both are pretty deep books. You'd look like a douchebag simply for reading ANYTHING that isn't Glamour, US weekly or some other entertainment RAG.

Chances are, you'd be asked to put the books away, because some chicken hearted teacher is afraid the class will start asking questions about the books: and since NCLB (no child left behind) regulates all aspects of pseudo-education, then the PTB (powers that be) would be unhappy to find children questioning communism and the propaganda surrounding HItler and his motives.

BEsides, if you're into politics, you'll eventually have to read both in College.

If you can stay awake to get through Mein Kampf you are a better person than I am. One should always know their enemy and why they think the way they do. So I see you as an intelligent person who will end up making well informed decisions.

No, you'd look like a history or political philosophy student. It's good to read books like that to form your own opinions on the subjects. That doesn't mean you have to believe what you are reading of course. It means that you want to know what these people are saying first hand and not through someone else's opinion of them.

Don't worry about looking like a douche bag. Reading these books doesn't mean you're hitler or a marxist. It just means you're open minded enough try to understand history.

No, but some nosy busybody may report you to the book police. These people forget that there is still freedom of speach etc. in this country.

Of course not, it always helps to expand one's knowledge to understand what drove such historical figures to such extremes. However, it's when one starts taking the content itself too seriously and incorporates it into one's own worldview that one becomes, as you put it, a douchebag.

Nothing wrong with reading them. It probably wouldn't go over too well if you started inserting quotes from them into everyday conversation.

No, read what you want.

You should see the looks that I got when I was reading Bill O'Reilly's 'Cultural Warrior' on the PATH train in Newark.

Is it a history class? Political science? Literature? If so, then no. If it's calculus or biology, then yes.
