It is a local diner/resturant, I know the name and the street address. Not sure if the name is the actual business name or "doing business as" name. Is there a way I can get information about this business?, like who actually owns it?

Here is the link for Massachusetts and you can do the search from here and most likely get all of the information you need.

Go to your City County building and request information on the Business. If it is a DBA it will return the name of the Owner of the Business.

Corporations however are individual entities.

well you can do a few things, but the easiest is to ask

just call up and ask to speak to the owner,

if he isn't available, ask what his name is,

they will most likely answer immediately

after they tell you, you can say, is this just his business name

and after that you can ten ask them whats written on their paycheck

if they give you a hard time answering you could call in stages,

and wait a few days inbetween

You could also say your calling from the yellow pages, looking for the information for 2 weeks free advertizing

and OR

you can say your calling from a delivery service, that they use
and need to refund money( like the napkins, and cups, ect..)

if they ask why your asking, say your new to the company and your boss wants you to issue a 345 dollar check, and you just wanted to make sure.

go to your state's secretary of state website. if its a corp or an llc, you can do a corporation search to find out. In florida, we can search dba names too, but not all state websites are like that.

Your county treasurer's office usually has that kind of information. Sometimes the county recorder's office does, too.
