I have a front loader that is almost a year old. It had the same problem after only 7 months. The repairman came over and simply cleaned the trap and it worked perfectly. He explained that a lot of newer models have a component that will not allow water to drain if it detects a clock in the hose or trap. It is a safety feature. We found paper, pens, safety pins and all sort of small items in there. It only took about 5 minutes and he showed us how to do it for future use.

Is this a top loading washing machine? This happens to me when I put too much stuff in. I have to take some stuff out then it's all ok again. Try smaller loads before you call the repair man.

Check the transmission. I had a washing machine that was leaving black stuff on my clothes. I called a repairman and he said washing machines have transmissions and it was leaving the transmission fluid. So I would call the repairman see if that's it.

Check the door/lid safety switch. If that switch goes bad the machine will fill with water but will not agitate or spin. (Some machines will agitate but none of them will spin if the safety switch isn't doing it's job).

sounds like the timing is off. you might need to check with a local repair shop to see if they can fix it. mine done that and i couldn't find any parts for it and end up having to buy a new washer.
