do women find it comfortable going to a male gynecologist?
I just thought to ask since male gynecologist has been mentioned at work.

I don't "wonder why", because I know that it is because of our culture; thankfully many things are changing. Many women do find it uncomfortable (me personally) and seek out female caregivers instead.

I think that male gynecologist get into that particular field of medicine because they liked the idea of being around naked woman but I don't think that they actually thought about everything that they would have to deal with. Personally I prefer a female gynecologist because they tend to be more gentle since they go through the exact same thing as their patients.

I think most women (or at least most women I've ever spoken to on the subject) feel more comfortable with a male gynecologist than a female. Not sure why...

I personal prefer a male gynecologist( I feel very comfortable, when I see him.)

I've always wondered what kind of a guy would gravitate to that type of job. I guess it takes a certain pathology for a guy to do that for a living. And ladies, don't flatter yourselves with all that perv talk. It's not like gynecologists only service supermodels or something. Even if they were supermodels, who would want to associate a beautiful woman with all those....ummm...problems if it wasn't out of a genuine interest for that field of medicine.

Well, a male gynecologist doesn’t know for a fact if he hurts you or not so he’s careful and gentle while woman gynecologist go right in there - autch.

Yes I have kinda wondered,,but think I know, anyways I have had both male and female gynaecologist and have found the males to be a little more gentler, the women I have had have been rough,,go figure. Yes I feel comfortable with my male gynaecologist, there is always a nurse present.

no, but i've wondered why women would be gynecologists.
my gynecologist is male, and i feel more comfortable with him than any woman i have had run those tests on me.

I've never been to a female one before. I have always heard that women ones are rougher. You wouldn't think so. . .I suppose there are male gynos. for the same reason that there are male nurses.
And Lily Lange, I have wondered the exactly same thing!

I have always had a female, I find them more concerned with their patients, less rushed, and have always been comfortable asking them any questions, no matter how trivial they might seem. They have always given the feeling of truly caring about you, where the men were just a # and $ feeling
