I was around 9 when I saw one of the remakes of Night of the Living Dead...I believe it was the one made in the early 90's. It was kinda scary and funny at the same time to me. I saw one of the answers of a guy above talking about how he thought that the original Night of the Living Dead was funny at first, yet as he got older he began to realize how scary it actually was and I have to agree....

I mean, it's kind of one of the most terrifying ideas that has ever been created. A once, living, breathing human being with feelings just like you, is now feeding on human flesh for sustenance, less than human...and it could be anyone, like a stranger, a neighbor, or even someone that you love. Really creepy...but I love that in just about all the movies that are about zombies, you never know where all this stuff started.

But yeah...well, I don't really have a favorite because I like so many. Like you I can't decide...

Edit: Oh, yeah, so I was talking about one of the answerers above (frightfilmman), and for some strange, inexplicable reason, I get a Tarantino vibe from him, especially after reading his profile...weird, huh?

I began watching horror movies on black & white TV around 1962.

I remember watching PSYCHO and THE BIRDS back then.

I also watched the premieres of TWILIGHT ZONE, ONE STEP BEYOND, OUTER LIMITS, and NIGHT GALLERY in the early 60s. These were incredibly scary and gave me and a whole lot of other kids nightmares for decades.

In the movie theaters I think the first horror flick I saw was the DUNWICH HORROR or THE BLOB or those Hammer vampire movies with Christoper Lee. I don't recall them being that scary, as compared to T.V's 1960's OUTER LIMITS or TWILIGHT ZONE.

...I was a wee lad of five, when my parents took me to see my very first movie, and that was the original "Night of the Living Dead"; I thought the film was the funniest thing I'd ever seen, and was almost losing my breath from laughing so hard. My parents looked on, embarrassingly, in the theatre, as other viewers looked back, and wondered just what this little kid was laughing at, and why!!!

On the way home, my parents initially figured that I just didn't understand what was going on, in the movie; upon asking me about what I saw, I replied, chuckling all the while, "...it was dead people, coming out of the ground, and eating live people!!!". My parents kinda stepped back in surprise, and not only further concluded that I DID have an idea what I saw in the movie, but pretty much foresaw, from then on, that I probably wasn't going to grow up to be one of those everyday normal boys...

...to this day, although I remember the incident quite vividly, I have failed to recall just why I though the film was so funny; though, as I got older, I DID come to realize how chilling "Night of the Living Dead" actually was....

....however, as my parents foresaw, I have pretty much turned out to be something slightly more than askew, and out of the norm; but then, as I always say to folks, "...'normal', as set forth by today's standards, is absolutely boring!!!"

Hi! The first horror film I saw was "Evil Dead". I must have been 9, I guess. I was over at my friends house when we put it on. It scared the **** out of me! I have many favorites - Evil Dead (though now it's funny), Blair Witch, The Exorcist, The Incredible Melting Man (another films I saw as a child and was **** scared, haven't seen it since the last fifteen or so yrs.), Demons actually the list goes on...

In my teens. "The Re-animator". This movie is as disqusting as it is scary. Not for pre-teens. Also the orignial "Hell Raisers" was pretty freaky. The scene of skin being torn from muscle with tiny sharp hooks will freak you out. The sequels became more and more watered down as they were released. More recently "Freddy Vs. Jason" was pretty scary but the ending is stupid. With that said I've lost interest in Horror movies due to the terrible violence done to the young female characters in them and plus the women are alway pretty stupid and defenseless. A terrible stereo-type for young girls.

I was 8 and watched "The Predator", the Arnold one.
It's not a horror movie, but it scared the crap out me. I was also at my cousins house, and I had i sleep in a dark, cold, empty basement.
Funny thing is, I've never been scared by a movie after that.

I'm pretty sure the first horror movie I saw was the HOUSE OF WAX (the Vincent Price remake of MYSTERY OF THE WAX MUSEUM).

I have too many favorite horror movies to choose one.
