Well,I am 13,so I can tell you the type of stuff my age would like.I am not the average young teen if you ask me lol,but I will try and help you, lately I have thought of a very nice craft that I want to do for two of my friends, for their birthdays, they are girls and they are turning 13,I want to make like a boutique for them, one of the girls has a collection of polly pocket dolls and their clothes from her childhood, and they are the ones the size of a pinkie, and they have rubber clothes.Well,(the other girl doesn't have those though) for her I was thinking of making that boutique, getting things done with papier mache, from the cash register to the mannequins. It is really fun and because of a lot of drying from the papier mache a weekend is just the right time for that. And for the girl who hasn't got any pollypocket dolls I will possibly make her one or two dolls and make the clothes,I have asked a question here about the clothing for them (I am terrible at sewing and I never crotcheted in my life so I have to make them not using cloth). The first and only answer was a very nice idea indeed, you can check out that question of mine (it is the latest one I asked). That idea generally is very nice I think, and I am planning on teaching them my techniques of making teh clothes so that they can make their own after. If you want for boys, then you can create anything they want from papier mache,it is cheap, you can recycle paper this way and it is a craft for any gender and age.If you don't know how to make papier mache there are great instructions on the net, just search in "papier mache".Good luck with that and I hope you have fun!♥

Get some composition note books from Wally world or even your G store. They are like fifty cents to a dollar right now.

Get some sheets of the fancy scrapbook paper that they sell at all the big craft stores as well as Wally world. you can get theme paper or plain. You will need two that are the same for the covers and then two that either match or contract the cover ones for the lining page.

Take your cover page and measure it so that it hangs over the stiff cover by about an inch or so. Glue it down and fold it around and glue the flaps down.

Now the lining sheets should be cut roughly to size so that they cover up the flaps. And glue those inside.

Now comes the fun part! Decorating. You can do anything from write on the covers to using three dimensional sticker, flat stickers, foamies, pictures, etc. But have the kids decorate the covers to suit them and make the book unique!

Get the covers laminated to protect all their treasures. You can have them laminated or buy laminating sheets yourself and do it.

Now they have a very personalized journal or ping pong journal that they will treasure and remember the event by.

If this is clean as mud email me and I will try to get some pictures.

There are loads of things that can be made with polymer clay (or many with air-dry clays as well) that could be "enjoyed afterwards."

A couple off the top of my head would be game pieces (they could make the game boards too) and other "toys" of various types, or little bowls or trays for putting some of their stuff (not for eating from), but there are loads more.

If you're interested in using a hardening clay (especially polymer clay), you can find lessons, examples and much more about making those things as well as many others on these pages at my webiste:

(...game pieces and some toys would be here too... click on GAMES or TOYS...)

(...for easy bowls, check out DRAPED BOWLS and also SLICE SHEET bowls)

HTH, and have fun!

Have them take full size photos of each other. After developing, cut out each persons head, body, arms and legs. Glue onto craft paper so they are sturdy then put magnets to the back. They can then have fun matching legs from one person onto anothers body and anothers head.

How about making some polymer clay beads, then combine them with store bought beads to make jewelry or maybe Christmas ornaments.
