myself? Anyone had experience. The software which would recognize a DVD or CD in the drive says "no disk," or "insert a DVD/CD." I can hear it spinning but then it stops and there is no autoplay like ya usually get. I would rather not hire a tech. Help Answers, Community, please help.

Thank you!

You mentioned that your notebook is fairly new.. Mechanical/Electronic devices goes out when they are new, when they get too hot or when they are worn out..or CD's when the pickup head gets dirty..

My guess is your new CD has crashed and needs to be replaced, unless you shoved a dirty disk, or dropped the laptop or it had something that went in with it... Try buying one of those cd head cleaners, They are a special disk. Run the CD Cleaner disk and it that doesnt work after that, your notebook should be under warranty.. Take it back. Theres nothing else you can do..

The computer can't find the disk because it doesnt see the signals coming off the disk. Dirty head is the first thing to suspect.
