Seems more and more like only those of privilege or money are the ones that become president. Does the Average Joe, growing up in a low or middle class family, really have a chance to become president?

Nope. To become a President, you'd better have a lot of financial backing and support. Big business chooses who our Presidents are as do special interest groups who have a lot of money to throw at particular candidates.

The average Joe, doesn't stand a chance.

I guess the answer is "No."

Having a privileged life, or being very successful are two requirements for becoming president. And while a privileged upbringing is something many of us can not have, theoretically, most of us could become successful.

The skills and abilities it takes to become successful are skills needed to become president, as well. So a true Average Joe might not have the chance to become president, but also would not be Alpha enough to *be* president, either.

And of course, people of limited intelligence, personality disorders, limited communication abilities (speech impediments, for example), and belonging to a oppressed minority would have much less chance of getting into office.

A chance, yes, but a very small chance.

Everyone that is eligible to become President has a chance of becoming President. It is just a question of how big or small that chance is. The chance may be .000000000001%, but it is still a chance.

No, and I don't think it's been possible for a long, long time. But then I'm the nut that thinks we are permitted to vote for president to make us happy, not to actually have a say in deciding who runs this country.

Shure, you can join one of the two parties, and, if you're sufficiently charismatic, pander to all the right people, and are really 'lucky' you could eventually be doing the bidding of your party & campaign contributors in the White House.

Do they have a chance, yes. The likelihood of that chance is slim to none for winning, though.

I hope Hillary can't. But generally yes, anyone can grow up to be President.
