Where is all this wrong info coming from???

you're suppose to do partial waterchanges of 25% weekly with a gravel siphon and you LEAVE your fish in there for that.

Never take out your fish, you will just stress them out, and sometimes kill them with that

Also don't forget to condition the water before you add it

Hope that helps
Good luck

You should not be doing anything with the fish when you clean the tank.

Tanks should be cleaned regularly (once per week is best) by syphoning out about 1/4 of the water and doing a gravel vacuum while you do this. It's much less stress for the fish and work for you to do this while the fish remain in the tank. Simple hoses with a vacuum on the end are available at fish stores, and you just syphon this water into a bucket. Then you fill the bucket up with clean water about the same temperature as the tank, dechlorinate it, and re-fill the tank.

By keeping on top of a weekly cleaning schedule, you will keep your tank clean for a very long time and not have to actually tear it down to clean it. A few minutes each week makes things a lot easier in the long run.

Why do you need to clean the WHOLE tank. The others that commented here are right when they say 25percent water change per week. Regular cleaning leaves happy fish!!!

If you're using a gravel vacuum to clean out the gravel and siphon off some water, you don't need to do anything with the fish. Just leave them where they are- they'll move out of the way of the vacuum,

You should take out your fish with the OLD tank water and put them in a bowl or some sort of object that can hold water and is deep, like a bucket. But, if you have more than 1 fish i suggest putting about 3-4 fish in one bucket depending on they're size.

Hope this Helps!
