1. ASAP (like within 24 hours) make a full report to the police & ask if there is a case # that you can tell your auto insurance company.
2. ASAP (like within 1 business day) make full report to your auto insurance company, and keep them informed as you get any new info of relevance.
3. SOON (like within 1 week) visit at least 2 auto body shops & get estimates what it cost to be fixed & tell the insurance company & the police what they are ...
best to make photocopies, so they can see precise $, from what places.
Insurance company needs to know how much money needs to be awarded to get this fixed.
Police need to know to see whether this is what kind of felony or misdemeanor
Lawyer should not be needed unless auto insurance does not take care of everything
If you can afford it, get your car fixed, send copies of receipts to insurance company, in hopes of being reimbursed.
When you authorize body shop to start work, inform auto insurance that you doing so ... they may want to pay the money direct to the auto body place.

Oftentimes if you only have liability insurance, insurance companies do not want to compensate you for intentional acts.
Nevertheless, notify them.
I would probably file for a Restraining Order against the person and then also sue him or her.

I would certainly not smash him down. If he is my neighbour i'll just tell his family about what he had done to my window but if they din't do anything then i would keep quiet and send the bill for the repairs. And if they din't give the bill i'll smash their car's windows. or i'll call the police.
