i am getting new carpets in december and wanted to set up the tank soon. do you think it would be possible if i layed a thick sheet down and set the fishtank ontop of the sheet, so when the new carpet comes, all i have to do is drain a little water and pull the sheet onto the new carpet?
thanks

It's never recommended to move a tank with any water in it. It can mess up the sealing or even break the glass. That's the last thing you want to happen with new carpet, your tank to spring a leak. Figure one gallon of water weighs about 8 lbs., then the weight of the actual tank, even a 10 gallon tank is heavy. Your best bet is just go ahead and set it up, and plan on emptying it and moving it, or set it up somewhere else and just move it after the carpet's in. But definitely completely drain it.

no, you will want to buy an aquarium stand for your tank, properly sized to your tank size

I wouldn't recommend it at all putting the tank onto the floor

Also never move a complete full tank by pulling or pushing it, you will most likely brake it

Hope that helps
good luck
