No. wood is not a fertilizer. it can be used to mulch around the bushes, but wood fiber (sawdust) actually ties up Nitrogen from the soil as it breaks down, so it would be, in fact and ANTI fertilizer.

The sawdust may help acidify the soil- that could be beneficial for blueberries. If you soil is alkaline, it might help.

Simple enough question, very complicated answer, sorry.

No, it's not a good fertilizer ... for that you need compost or a 'good chemical' such as Miracle Gro (use only ONE TIME at the beginning of the growing season, and your blueberries will be WONDERFUL when you harvest them) ... but if you have sawdust or wood 'shavings' (or better yet, call a tree service and ask them to bring you a whole dump truck full of them ... which most will do for FREE) you may use them as a wonderful 'mulch' to help hold the 'water' in around the roots ... which is where you want the 'water' to be ... and there is a second 'good thing' about wooden mulch ... you won't get nearly as many weeds ... weeds around berry bushes/plants take the nutrients from the compost/chemicals/soil that your berries need to be 'fat and tasty.' GOOD GROWING!

Sawdust & wood shavings are commonly used as mulch. However, they should be aged in a compost pile for 6 months to a year before putting around plants to give the wood time to decompose. If laid down without being aged, the wood leaches nitrogen out of the soil as it decomposes & that's not good for any plant.

Sawdust and wood shavings are not good fertilizers. Wood consists mostly of cellulose and has very little nutritional value. As the wood decomposes it can rob your plants of nitrogen too, so it would actually have the opposite effect that you desire.
