There is really not set number to a fantasy football league, though too few teams will be extremely high scoring games, and too many wont be fun. I have a six team league with some friends, and it worked out fine. Id say the ideal numbers is 8, but 6 is close enough

If you have to go with six teams I would expand the starting rosters.
Make it something like 2QB 4 RB 6 WR 2 TE 2k 2Def
This way you are using the same amount of starters as if you had 12 teams in your league
If you use a standrd format every match up will be an allstar free for all.
Try to get more players if you have time.

It will be a rotation of playing the same opponent a ton of times in a 15 week season. It will make it interesting to try and have at least 4 more teams, unless the team owners are OK with a round-robin type of slate.

You can do a league with 6 teams, however, in the playoff, two teams will have a bye, and the more people there are, the more fun you'll have becasue the better people are divided.
