natural gas or LP propane is not carbon monoxide.a carbon monoxide detector will not detect anything but carbon monoxide. And yes your stove generates about 30,000 btu's
when everything is running on high.this will not make the environment unsafe if it is done over a short period of time, say 1/2 hr.depending on where the carbon monoxide detector is (close proximity) it will set it off.but the question remains is there anything else leaking Co2 ? like your house heater.the heater is usually the culprit.if your worried about it have the gas co come out , they wont charge you.

Co2 detectors are just like anything else there are good ones & bad ones. I had the same problem with a stove at my old house. My co2 detector never went off but every time I used my oven (the stovetop was fine) I got a headache from the smell. The gas company came out & said that is was because it wasn't vented (no range hood) My landlord refused to do anything about it so we moved & we have the same setup now with no rangehood & gas stove & I have no problems. (sorry I'm rambling) Call the gas company. They can come & use thier "sniffer". It's free & they can usually be there in a half hour or so.

That's the problem with carbon monoxide detectors. If they go off and everything seems fine, you don't know what to do. With a smoke alarm you can tell if it's a false alarm. I say call the FD and they'll come over and check things out to be safe. You never know. You may have a problem and feel fine for now. Better safe than sorry. If they Say everything's ok, go buy a new one and not the same brand.

the carbon monoxide would have gone off.it depends on when you got the alarm if it is old you may have to get a new one or you may have to change it and test it evey month or so.or your stove may not be leaking gas but if you could smell gas check under you stove and see if all the lights are lit.then check under ur oven and check if your pilot light is on if not get a match and light it. but if it is already light check with your gas company.

hope that helped :)

Sometimes they don't....if depends on how strong the gas is and how much it is leaking...check the detector and have someone look at the stove asap!

When you purchase one of these, and they are a life saver, we had it go off and it saved our lives,... in the instructions it will tell you the best place to place this, if you gave a gas leak get a hold of the gas company right now!!!
