Albinism is an inherited condition that affects all races. They have inherited genes that do not make the usual amounts of a pigment called melanin.
If 2 people with albinism have a child, the child will have albinism. If 1 person with it and 1 person without it have a child, the child has a 50% chance of having it.
"For nearly all types of albinism both parents must carry an albinism gene to have a child with albinism. Because the body has two sets of genes,a person may have normal pigmentation but carry the albinism gene. If a person has one gene for normal pigmentation and one gene for albinism, he or she will have enough genetic information to make normal pigment. The albinism gene is "recessive" — it does not result in albinism unless a person has two copies of the gene for albinism and no copy of the gene that makes normal pigment.
When both parents carry the gene, and neither parent has albinism, there is a one in four chance at each pregnancy that the baby will be born with albinism. This type of inheritance is called autosomal recessive inheritance."

LOL no offense taken from a white chick. In fact, I only found out a few years ago that black people can be albinos. Yup, white people, black people, Asians, all of us are potential victims.
It's the same with vitiligo. A lot of people think only of black people when they think of vitiligo (maybe because Michael Jackson has it--he actually had his skin lightened to even it out, and then he took so much crap for it...http://img311.imageshack.us/img311/6046/vitiligo77tx.jpg). Anyway, anyone can have vitiligo, too.
Albinos can have average children, but they are likely to be albinos, too. Vitiligo must run in families, too, because I knew an entire family in North Carolina who had it. They had like 6 kids, and they all had really dark skin with a big white patch on their forehead. Pretty startling to see them all out at Wal-Mart. One of my friends dated one of them when we were in high school, and she said he was affected "somewhere else" too. She said it was the only time she saw something that big and that white.
Finally, my most interesting albino story. I was hunting with my husband one morning, sitting back a couple hundred yards from where he was stalking some deer with his bow and arrow. I heard a little rustle and looked to the right. Up on this little hill in the distance, I saw what I first thought was a white horse. Then I noticed it had antlers. It stood majestically on the hill, and I realized I was seeing an albino deer! It was magical. I was SO glad my husband didn't see it. I would have been so upset if he had killed it. Anyway, it just stood there for a minute, then turned and ran off. Neatest thing I ever saw!
