Well, it is certainly a stunning flower. I'm not sure, but it looks like it could be some variety of Lotus. I wish I knew. I've tried to find it and haven't had any luck.
Can you tell us any thing more about it. Was it a cut flower? Is it scented? Did in grow on a bush or was it a single flower from a bulb? Did it grow wild or did you find it in a garden? If so, which garden? More info would really help.

WOO...HOO...I found it.
It's a Pink torch ginger flower. Here is a pic for comparison.

Check out this site and note the Yamamato Torch and the Pink Torch. They are not as good of photos, but they are almost identical.

It is the Pink Torch Ginger there are 6 different species and this particular one is the etlingeria elatior.......it mostly found in tropical rain forests and comes from Asia
