Yes, lots of people live in Encinitas, Carlsbad and San Diego. I know just a tiny fraction of some the citizens of these large, fine cities you ask and in many of the other cities that lie in Southern California.

In general, the safest neighborhoods in San Diego are north of the 8. There are some south of 54 and east of 805 though. However, no neighborhood is crime-proof as the recent Chelsea King story proved. There are plenty of community colleges in San Diego so being within driving distance of one is not a problem unless you live up in the mountains or in the desert. As for apartments, I have no idea what the rents are. You'll have to find an agent or start checking out the rental sites.

Yes, the city of San Diego proper is at 1.2 million folks, and the rest of San Diego County bring the total to just over 2.7 million.

I live in El Cajon, which is about 15 minutes from downtown San Diego. That counts as living in Southern California.

I lived in Encinitas for 23 years. I love it. My parents still live there, so I travel there about once every week or two.
I now live in Orange county. I did like San Diego better.

yeah. Poway. a suburb of san diego. There are alot of Hispanics here, the sun is always hott, but there is nice weather, the beaches are wonderful, and san diego has lots of activities.
