I'm not native English speaker but many English speakers come to the hotel as guests and I don't know how to call them in the proper way. The hotel is like a INN, about $50 per night and 2-3 stars.

it has nothing to do with how much the room costs. always call your guests sir and madam unless they specifically tell you to adress them otherwise.
it's much more professional.

In my opinion, the amount of the stay per night has no bearing on the subject. It is common to adress a man as "Sir" and a woman as "Ma'am or Miss". I am sure that even if you became acquainted with the guests, the hotel management would not accept the practice of addressing guests otherwise.

Calling the male guests by Sir would be the best and most appropriate thing to call them.

Even though you work in a "cheap" hotel you should still extend common courtesy to all of your guests, so yes, please do call your male guests "sir" and your female guests "ma'am." They will certainly appreciate your kindness!

I think it's always polite to call people sir or ma'am. It shows respect, and people appreciate that.

It doesn't matter where you work, if you are addressing people in any business you should refer to them in the formal way like "sir" or "ma'am".

When they check in you can call them Mr.____ or Ms. ____. If you don't know their name and see them later, it's polite to call them Sir or Madam.

I agree with the first answer. If they are cheapskates, they don't need a respectful greeting. Give them what they pay for. They don't talk like that to them here when you stay at a 50dollar a night hotel room.
