When the Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor without any threat, provocation or attack by the United States, millions of Americans automatically joined the armed services to protect and defend their country, their families, and their way of life.
Why should it surprise anyone that when the U.S.A. attacked Iraq without any threat, provocation or attack being imminent from Iraqis that AlQaeda's forces increased?? They want to protect their country, their families, and their ways of life just as we do.
While the U.S.A. claims it's fighting to bring democracy to Iraq, the fact is we're there to protect our "national interests" (interpret that to mean, "Why is all OUR oil underneath all THEIR sand??").
The Bush administration has conned Americans, Congress and our valiant U.S. troops into believing that there is a just, moral, and honorable cause behind this unconstitutional, illegal, unjustified and immoral war, when - in fact - we're letting people die for the sake of OIL and WAR PROFITEERING so a handful of wealthy American elitists, industrialists and power brokers can become wealthier and more powerful. -RKO- 08/20/07

Why? My take on it is because terrorism is all we hear nowadays and it is that very publicity that drives them. If no coverage was given , I'm not saying terrorists would go away but like most extremists, without the media driving the reporting of their agenda, then who would care. Ignore them and go about your daily business. That is how to defeat terrorists. Giving in to the fear means they won, ignoring them(to a point), is how to defeat them. Defend ourselves, sure, but we should be doing that anyway. Getting down to their levels is not the way to go, we are better than that but , sigh, when all the leaders preach is fear and all the media does is perpetuate the madness, this will never end . My take on it anyway. Have a great day all.
