No! Don't give your baby cereal until at least 4 months. And, trust me, it does not help sleepless nights! We started my daughter at 4 1/2 months on solids and she didn't start sleeping any better until about a month later, and I think it was just because she was ready to.

You shouldn't introduce solids until baby is 6 months old, they say 4-6 but doctors are asking mothers to wait till 6.
Your babies digestive system is not ready to digest cereal.
Your baby can't eat it off the spoon, they need head control to do this! So, that means you'd be adding it to its bottle which is a really bad idea. Baby's drink and eat differently... it could cause choking and suffication.
Don't give your baby anything but breast milk or formula. Oh, and it's just a myth that adding solids will help a baby sleep through the night. My oldest didn't sleep solid through the night until she was about 14 months old. My 8 month old just started waking up at night when I introduced solids!
Good luck! Take everything you hear with a grain of salt and research anything you're not sure about!

No, no, no, no, no. Any respectable pediatrician/doctor will tell you to wait 6 months before introducing solids. It used to be common practice to do the whole cereal thing at bedtime, but it is no longer recommended by anybody who's up-to-date in this kind of information. A one-month old breastfed baby SHOULD be getting breastmilk during the night; he will get NO nutrition from the cereal because he is unable to process it just yet. It may or may not make him sleep, but nutritionally and digestively speaking, it's a bad idea.

This is such a bad idea!! Babies bellies are just growing and actually they've changed starting solid foods until 6 months now. (well, depends on the baby usually between 4-6 months). My daughter is 5 months old and we tried to start her on baby cereal around 3.5 months because she seemed hungry and was eating a lot at night, but this made it worse because her little belly was in so much pain :(
Definately don't start it that early... there is no harm in waiting!

Studies show that feeding cereal does not cause infants to sleep longer, it does however increase the immediate risk of anemia, malnutrition, illness and SIDS. In the long term offering non-breastmilk food sources before 6-9 months increases the risks of allergies, diabetes, asthma, etc.
Ask your MIL what she would recommend for an adult that can't sleep, chances are she will say "warm milk" ;-)

You should speak to your doctor or health visitor I think. To me, 1 month is too young to give cereal to a baby. It's digestive system is not ready for it and it could make problems.
Talk to a trained person about this. Good luck, a baby is hard work, but you seem to be sensitive to youre baby - good for you and very good for the baby!!

I would not give cereal at this point. It's way too early. Don't rush it! Could cause more problems and sleepless nights aren't a problem if you consider the damage you might do.

dont do it!
even if your mother in law gets upset
the babys stomatch is very sensitive at this age and this has nothing to do with you guys getting a good nights sleep.
cereals should be fed at 6months of age
especially if you are breastfeeding. this can also affect the baby's teeth and remember overall health starts with your teeth.

Well i don't advise doing that until at least 3 1/2 months old.. there tummy will be more mature then. You can cause a block in there intestines and cause future allergies to food.

DONT DO IT. You could seriouslt harm his development and even make him intolerant of certain things...its an old trick used by the more ignorant and older generation...it doeas not fill them up more...it damages them. Just ask your health care proffesional and they will agree.
