yes, they should always worry about any team that is making that good of a run, the yankees pitching is starting to come together with pettite and the rocket pitching well again, but seattle and JJ Putz remains a big threat to everyone in the AL.

Yeah they should worry. The Yankees are the only team that's been hitting better than Seattle since the All-Star break. They've got power up and down their lineup, just like NY, and have the best leadoff hitter in the game. They don't have the big names in their starting rotation that the Yankees have but they're 5 starters have been every bit as good as the guys the Yankees put on the mound and then you've got the bullpen. Seattle has the best bullpen in the league, bar none. If they get ahead and get it to their relief pitchers, game over. You can't say the same thing about the Yankees who have had shaky at best relief pitching this year. So yes, NY should be worried about Seattle.

They should worry more about catching Boston, if they win the division then it's a moot point. But to answer your question - yes. Seattle is overlooked by just about everyone since they're in a small market on the west coast, but as of today they are 1/2 game ahead of NYY for the wild card, and that is without all the talent that everyone else has pointed out that the Yankees have.

Yes, the Yankees should slightly worry about Seattle. They are a good team, and the only team ahead of them in the wild card race, which is the way that the Yankees will most likely get to the playoffs by.

well, many people on here were saying the yanks had little to know chance of beating detroit or seattle. now they a 3 game lead over detroit. The Mariners a good team, BUT, I dont think they will be able to keep up with the Yankees down the stretch.

Yes and No. You shouldn't discount, or not worry about any team in the race. They obviously got there somehow. Seattle has a very good bullpen and a strong offense, if their starting pitching holds they will be tough. But on the other hand, a team in contention cannot "worry" about another team. You have control of your fate, keep winning games and everything will fall into place, if you start scoreboard watching to early you'll go crazy. Seattle is a good team, but I personally don't see them continuing to play at this level much longer.

The Yankees should worry about the Yankees. If they can take care of themselves, they'll take care of everyone else.
And for those Mariner fans still clinging to 1995, that's OK. We'll cling to 2000 and 2001. 116 don't mean a thing, 'cause you didn't get the ring.

Yes they should. The Mariners are playing real good ball as are the Yankees. They collide for 2 games soon, I think. Theres still a lot of baseball to be played.

No they should only worry about the team they play that night. If they take care of each game one at a time, they will be in first place within a week.
