I've seen many field hockey questions on here, which makes me wonder why Yahoo forces them to share a section with us. Doesn't really make sense to me. It'd be like the football section having to share with rugby. They're two similar but very different sports that should have their own section.

Like I'm Telling You - That would work, too. While writing the question, I was thinking maybe having them be subsections of hockey, but anything to keep them separate would be good.

Flames Fan and tblightng, that's a great idea, and not to be rude or mean or anything, but I kinda suggested that. But I definitely agree, they should have subsections like that.

Ive been wondering the same thing!!
I think Yahoo! should make different sections like
"Feild Hockey"
and
"Ice Hockey"
Or somthing like that anyway, but like you said, there are too many field hockey questions that either we dont know, or we just couldnt care less.
Catherine Earnshaw, trust me they would have enough questions and people to amke a seperate forum, just go look at the "handball" forum, and tell me who would have more people and questions.

The problem is that it is called 'hockey' and not 'field hockey'
If you look at an official Olympic Guidebook, Hockey is listed as both a summer and winter sport. Only North Americans call it field hockey. I remember scouting in Sweden in the mid 70s (Kent Nilsson) and asking which way to the hockey game. I was told that 'they don't play hockey in winter'. When I returned to Canada I shared this story with Stan Mikita. Here is his answer
In North America, we have Hockey and Field Hockey
In the Europe, they have Hockey and Ice Hockey.
So, ideally, there should be two categories
Hockey (Ice)
Hockey (Field)

Well, here's my take.
First of all, it be much like a "Well, they got it, so we can get it." Pretty soon, the Swimming and Diving would want two split apart and become two sections. Fantasy Sports would want "Fantasy Football, Fantasy Baseball, Fantasy Hockey, Fantasy Soccer, Fantasy Cricket (just threw that last one in there)
One idea that is in reach (and just thought of 4 second ago), is to have a hockey section, then subdivisions. So it would read
Hockey
-Ice Hockey
-Field Hockey
-Roller Hockey (cant leave them out.)

Probably because so few questions are asked about that topic, they decided to put everything in one section. But I would like to see more specific sections too.

Look man, if handball (?) has it's own section, so should field hockey. I am 100% with you on this one.

I don't really think they'd have enough questions to make it worth having their own section. Besides, we end up with all the weird Y/A leftovers anyway.

I keep posting the suggestion in the forum but they don't seem to be in any hurry. It doesn't get much response when people post it.
