He doesn't. My word, here I thought that Republicans cared about the economy, but I see not all of you understand mutual funds. He didn't get to decide what they invested in, and as soon as this story broke he dumped them. More appropriately, your question should be phrased "Why DID Edwards have..."

You don't have to agree with a company's mission statement or even be concerned with what they produce when you invest. Investing in stock isn't philanthropy its single aim is to make a profit. You can give back to the community by donating blood and giving to charities.
More of a concern is when an administration is heavily vested in the production of war machines … and than creates a situation where the stock goes through the freaking roof.

1. Why would a conservative for the rich complain about anyone making money. The only ones entitled have your beliefs?
2. Why would a conservative give a rat's @ss about any poor people?
3. The poor in New Orleans do not own homes, they are all on the welfare you hate, remember?
4. Once again you will find a way to bash any Democrat, even if they do what you want them to. Radical.

Have you ever invested in a mutual fund? You get a conglomorate of industry stock. Those companies can have any number of business ventures going on at any one time.
So one or more of his mutuals has tobacco. Phillip Morris makes a lot of money. One is in the sub prime markets. A lot of people are. People across the country are getting foreclosed on. Did he tell them to refi? I doubt it. His investments are in Oil. With oil sitting around $80 a barrel and getting ready to hit $100 yeah, I want to position myself there too.
Who said liberals were all Birkenstock wearing, granola wearing hippies?

I am so tired, of hearing the piss poor excuse for these Liberal Hypocrites as BLIND TRUST. My wife and I make a very good living and have alot of investments. We don't have the kind of Money like Hilary stock in Fox news, and oil companies, Michael Moore Halibution Stock, but we know EXACTLY what companies we are invested in, I find it hard to believe that these Liberal Hypocrites like Hilary, Edwards, MOORE have no idea what companies they have invested in especially when your talking about that kind of money millions of dollars if you believe that bullCRAP about a blind trust and they don't know, then I guess liberals, pull out all your teeth tonight and wait for the tooth fairy to swing by and leave you a couple of bucks.

The same reason he charges $150,000 for giving a speech on fighting poverty and pockets the money. He is another millionaire politician how wants you to believe he is for helping the poor. He could have given millions of his own money, but does not. He wants you to elect him, then he will spend your money to help the poor, not his. The sad thing is most Americans fall for it. He is a phony like a lot of others. At least Republicans come out and say they will not help the poor, the Dem's still have people believing that they will.

You can't have it both ways. The same people that are screaming 70% of Americans own their home, the economy is great, life is good are the first to point out poor people are losing their homes and some rich politician has a diversified portfolio.

Awww, those poor poor people! They had no idea that they were getting mortgages that they couldn't afford! Give me a break. Maybe Edwards just wanted to make money legally. You seem jealous.

It shows that he is a politician and will do anything to get elected. Candidates usually put their money in trusts so they can prove that there will be no conflict of interest
