Go for it! I got mine at 21, with no children. I was married to someone, at the time, that divorced me for getting it (needless to say, she did not agree with it, at all). There is some other guy that is on my fan list that says he got one at around your age, and I am pretty sure he said he didn’t even had a girlfriend at the time.
When I got mine, the novelty was so big, that I bragged to everyone how I fooled the doctor into giving me a vasectomy at 21, with no children. Today guys that are looking out to protect themselves, in the future do it all the time. I know about a dozen, but I also belong to a “Childfree” club, so many of my friends had vasectomies and had no children.
The “coolness” wore off because I known so many others have done it, so I am no longer unique.
When I was your age, having a vasectomy made me almost updatable. Today, that is not a problem. One in Five women, in the USA will decide that they never want children. Although you can date, and even marry a woman, and she could never know you had, I think you should be honest with her.
My current girlfriend had herself done when she was in her 20's and she never had children.
I don’t know anyone that regrets not having children. But I know many people whom regret having them. It is better to regret not having them, than to regret having them.
When people make comments on me not having children, I just show them all the stamps in my passport, and they shut up real fast.
BTW: At your age, you will have to lie to the doctor, telling him or her you have kids. That is what I did, and most of the others told me that they had to do the same.
Good luck!

Do NOT get a vasectomy if you are EVER considering having kids. As much as people say that it's 'reversible' the fact is that it's VERY expensive to reverse it AND there's no guarantees! I would WAIT until after you've either had children OR you and your wife/GF have decided after several YEARS that you really don't want children. Think of it as a ONE WAY decision. If you EVER want to change your mind, it will be too late!

not at all. you just need to make sure that is what you want. i thought i didnt want kids. then i had one when i was 37, and i wish i had started earlier and had more. they are a great blessing. now if i had done the vasectomy earlier, i couldnt have had one.

I got mine at 19, single with no kids. I look older than I am. I just went to a free clinic. I lied about my age, told them I was married, and that I had three kids. No big deal.

Don't do it. My brother and sister in law were in their mid 30's when they married and had decided they didn't want children. They changed their mind 2 years later and now are a big happy family. Don't close your doors.

Yes, unless you are willing to have it reversed if you change your mind.
