Don't listen to those other posers - let me list the "top five romantic comedies" of all time.

5. Bull Durham - three great stars, a good script and she's sitting on the porch swing while it's raining waiting for him in the end.
4. Bridget Jone's Diary - three great stars, an excellent script full of surprises and she's running the the snow in her panties to chase him down in the end, the song is "Someone Like You" by Van Morrison.
3. The Parent Trap - either Haley Mills or Lindsay Lohan, both versions are excellent. A romantic comedy about getting a couple back together again - every divorced kid's dream and they do love each other soooo much.
2. She's The Man - a teen-age movie, to be sure - but it's based on 12th Night and has all of Shakespeare's plot twists and humor. Amanda Byne's is a true star with loads of talent and a treat to watch on screen. "Lady, I've got to turn on the sprinklers" leads into a wonderful scene at the end where Duke finds Viola.
1. Romancing The Stone - the best romantic comedy of all time. All the hyper-dramatics of a romance novel put on the silver screen - yet, each time she saves herself! It is so wonderful that neither character has to change - they just get better.

The above list is the best list.
My complaint about most romantic comedies is that the guy has to change himself to get the girl. Usually in public, he has to abase himself - think Hugh Grant in Notting Hill confessing in front of the press or in Two Weeks Notice in front of all the staff. It's such a common theme - I'd like the girl have to change now and then. Of course, my Top Five has none of those problems......

Enjoy!
