Did Jenny die of Aids? I was just wondering because I watched it last night and I had a little debate with my husband. I say she did. Do you know?

No, the movie was first! Oh gosh... this movie is soooo beautiful!!! My absolute favorite forever!! :-) Anyway, it basically happened, that some guy watched it and probably loved it as much as I do. And then, he probably thought: "well... Bubba Gump Shrimp cooperation... mmh, might be a good business!". And well, he just realized it! And you know what's the very funny and ironic part of it? You surely can remember Forrest becoming really rich in the movie, because his shrimp business was running so well. I think it really funny that in reality, the idea worked out as well and the guy who started it all became a millionaire himself :-).

It's not ambiguos just because it doesn't say "AIDS." It couldn't at that time in the movie because it hadn't been identified yet! Remember, that scene is in the early 80's! Yes, Jenny died of AIDS. There is absolutely no question about it.

Given Forest's age, the letter he received from Mar-30,1981 the promiscuity implied with Jenny's chararcter and the awareness of AIDS as "a virus", this would certainly indicate that this is what killed her.

I agree with the general consensus that Jenny did in fact die of HIV/AIDS. That character died in 1982 so it is more than likely that this would be correct.

I would say no. Only timeframe wise. I was thinking more like hepatitis. But I myself did naturally think she died of an STD-related disease or something to do with the effects from using too many drugs/sharing needles, etc. Since she died maybe early 80s, I would say probably not (or at least there wasn't the big AIDS scare at the time that she was supposed to have died in the movie) but it definitely could be taken that way.

Yes, she died of AIDS. If you will recall she mentions to Forrest that she has a "virus" and the doctors didn't really know what it was. That seems to sync with the time frame of the movie. Also, when she came back to Forrest he mentioned that she just slept all the time.

no, she didnt have cancer like someone said. that was his mom. They never really say thats what it was, but just think back to all the drugs she did and people she slept with!! lol and they do say its an unknown virus....back in the 80's.
I assumed it was AIDS

She did die of AIDS cause she slept with alot of men
