I think Black History probably refers to African-American history while African history is the history of the African people. There obviously would be some overlap between the two.

NO, African History would be the history of AFRICA. Black history would be the history of black people. African history would leave out the U.S. Civil Rights movement and guys like Martin Luther King Jr. and Malcolm X. The two would overlap in some areas, like Nelson Mandela.

To earn my History degree with a thesis in African history, I had to take classes in History, Afro-American Studies and even the Anthropology Department.

No, Black history is just that the history of black peoples. African history is the history of Africa which includes Arabs, Whites, and Blacks.
