Just use one software. Which one is up to u. maybe McAffee is a memory consumer but is a good one. If it not just antivirus - and it like firewall +spyware + antivirus i dont see a reason to remove it. just keep it untill ur subsciption ends and then u find out what to do. u can use a free antivirus plus free programs for spyware and intrusion protection or u can renew ur McAffee subscription.

p.s: yes u can install more. In some cases it will not work together, but my advise is not to use more than one. There are viruses that some antivirus dont find and stuff like this but just use McAffee, its good for home use. Give it a try, although i prefer Norton :-)

antivirus software packages often do damage to each other do to their investigative nature. As was suggested above... uninstall McAfee and install AVG Antivirus from Grisoft. The free version is fantastic.

I would recommend uninstalling any previous versions of antivirus before installing new. Antivirus software (especially mcafee) usually don't play well with other antivirus software.

Remove McAfee and install either Avast or AVG - it's best to only have 1 antivirus at a time.

I used to have AVG and it replaced into very stable yet then it began to restriction a number of its applications with version 8 i think of. So I switched to avast! No complains right here. Avast! has all of the time-honored useful factors or a minimum of all which you will anticipate from it plus it has a boot-time test which incredibly helps you to do an epidemic test at startup. i don't care lots for paid anitvirus utility fairly once you may get great ones for unfastened.

Uninstall Mcafee and get Avast antivirus. It can detect over 4 million viruses. It is also free.

NEVER install more than ONE anti-virus program on your computer. Each program will react to the other to your constant disadvantage. AVG is the only anti-virus program you should use because it's the best and it's FREE!

You don't want to be running two different A/V software packages on your system.

A/V software "scans" your computer. And A/V software identifies other software that scans your computer as malware, and will prompt you to quarantine it, or do so on its own.
