God springs forth from the primitive limbic system of your brain, the last remnants of your reptillion past. The area where our raw emotions reside, including the irrational belief systems.
The 'religious' experience is triggered by deep depression, starvation, near death, or other highly charged situations. The 'born-again' christian phenomena has a scientific basis....yes, your limbic system. Why has man evolved this mechanism you might ask? Simple...it was a survival mechanism of our cave man ancestors to cope with a hostile and unknown universe.
The cerebral cortex is a more recent development. Here is where our rational and logical thought processes take place. It is here that the atheists have found their basis in reality.
In reality, there is no sentient, omnipresent, omnipotent supernatural being or force....therefore all the inequities and misery of the world will always persist, no matter how hard some try to get that limbic brain of ours to work...sorry

I'm not sure what the extended, detailed part of the question is asking, but I'm going to answer the posted, highlighted question.
I believe in God, yes. It's called faith. But I've also had questions that need answers that couldn't have been because of God. I know that's confusing, sorry. Here's a better example. I have faith that some unknown presence has granted us the gift of life, but I don't undersand then, if that was God, why he would put people in another counrty where they believe in some other being than God himself. Somewhere where they believe in a whole different perspective of faith and religion. And yet another question. Why would, in some people's beliefs, God grant people the gife of childbearing when HE wants it. If then he was the puppeteer and not us. We cannot decide when to have children or what religion to be.
Sorry if that was confusing, but I think I made my point. Hope I made you think. Good luck.
♥ Peace

I don't believe in a God. I think it's natural to want to believe in a higher power to explain things we don't yet understand or don't want to accept, like our own mortality. There is also a stigma attached to not believing in a higher power that is instilled in us by society, culture, etc.
It's difficult to accept we are not special and when we die we cease to exist much like everything else in nature.
Even if there is a heaven and I made the cut, I wonder how your soul can feel happiness or bliss when that is a physical reaction requiring a body. My second thought, assuming the first was still possible in some divine way; wouldn't even bliss get old?
We still have to much to learn. I'm not letting my ego get in the way thinking I'm special. I'm just going to be the best person I can, take joy from helping others, and understand my time will come.

proof is a lack of faith... Jesus addresses this in the New Testament and says not to ask for proof. Blessed is those who believe without seeing, anyone can believe if given proof. it would be pointless. and proof by OUR standards would make God measurable. God is omnipotent and immeasurable therefore we should quit trying to level ourselves with Him and just have faith... and the first comment is wrong. God is a Just God and a God of righteousness. Heaven is a perfect place. Because we are sinners we are not perfect or righteous. Jesus lived a perfect life and sacrficed it for our sins so now the only way to become righteous is to have faith in Him that He is Lord take up our cross and follow Him.

When you think about it, it actually does make sense. The bible and science agree that in the beginning there was nothing, only time. But here is when we begin to differ. Science says some gasses exploded, but wait, hold up! I thought you said that there was nothing in the beginning, looked like some molecules appeared from nowhere.
Now even if you aren't religious, you can surely see the sense in christianity,

If you have trouble believing in god then why do you think there is a heaven? I do not have trouble believing in god because I know that he is up there and he has a plan for all of us. Even though he does not rule our thoughts and make us do things but he is still apart of us all.

Wisdom...faith is a journey. You have your whole life to contemplate God, the meaning of life, and the answers to complex questions. What is important is that you strive to be a good person. You desire to be good because you understand the value of life as you say you are a vegan. Knowledge comes in many forms, and so does faith. No one can explain faith, though many will try to. I wish you luck, and I envy your open mind and you desire to understand what many take for granted...a belief in God.

I really think belief in God is a gift.
People that have been raised in the same household, given the same education and you can find one religious the other not.. or 2 out of 4.
I don't know why that is, God only knows.

Unlike what someone said, you can decide what you want to believe in. What's important is to study all religions and then find one you truly believe in whether a god is involved or not. Lots of people have trouble bellieving in god because many things aren't explained to them about god, some things just are what they are. But if you don't believe what people tell you you can believe in something else. You are agnostic. It's perfectly fine.
