I just rewash them in the hottest water possible add about 1/2 cup of vinegar to the wash cycle and use some fabric softener if you want to. Also hanging them outdoors on the line will for sure get rid of any leftover smell that might linger after rewashing.

Add 1 cup vinegar to the wash. You want to kill the mildew, which is causing the smell. Vinegar kills mildew, fabric softener and Fabreeze will just cover the smell, not kill the mildew. Vinegar is also a great deodorizer, the vinegar smell dissipates as it dries.

Rewash, add fabric softener (it really just masks any smell) or baking soda( the baking soda is a deodorize so your cloths will come out fresher). dry with drier sheet. Good Luck

Try hanging them out in the sun, if you don't want to re-wash in vinegar....
Someone below said use bleach. ONLY use bleach on whites....and then carefully...........use bleach with caution.
