Hi all. I am so frustrated. I took an hpt yesterday and got a very faint second pink line. Today, my impatience got the best of me so I tested again using first morning pee. No second line at all this time. AF not due till Wednesday and I am having several early PG symptoms. Any advice? I used First Response, is there a better early detection test out there?

You could be pregnant still. Maybe for soem reason this morning's HPT was a false negative, but yesterday's test picked up on the HCG in your system.

It could have also been a chemical pregnancy which means that your egg was fertlized but did not implant. You released some HCG due to the fertiolized egg but since it did not implant.....the amount of HCG is going back down. I had that happen back in April, and I got pregnancy symptoms as well.

Wait for a missed period and then call your doctor and request a blood test.

Good luck and baby dust your way!!!!!

The sensitivity listed on home pregnancy tests is just the minimum, most tests are actually more sensitive than that. However even two tests from the same box can be different one may only detect the level listed on the box and the other may detect a half or even a quarter of the amount.

If the first test was read correctly: within the time limit, and not under every different light in the house at every possible angle while squinting. It is positive and you are pregnant.

And remember hormones levels double every 48 hours so tomorrow or the day after you may be able to get another positive.

As long as your test lists a sensitivity of 25mIU/mL or less it is a sensitive or early test. There was one test on the market that said it tested 12.5mIU/mL but I don't believe it is sold anymore, there are a few that list 20. In any case New Choice sold at dollartree is 25mIU/mL sensitive and then you can buy 10 or more tests for the price of one more first response *lol*.

Sorry that youre frustrated but if you are pregnant then that frustration isnt good for the baby or you. Wait a week and test again from the day you took the positive test. Testing so closely together can give a mixed response so a week later will ensure baby proteins to show up better on the test. Its too soon for a blood test.

All the tests are basicly the same. sorry! But just try to wait a few more days, and use first morning urine again. A false positive is very rare, so I would say you are pregnant. The urine you used the 2nd time could have just been more diluted. Good luck to you, if you want to know for absolute sure go to the dr for a blood test, i got my results back the same day i had the blood drawn.

Edit:

Even if the egg was implanting and then stoped you would likly stll have a positive test, it would not turn negitive over night as the level of HCG in your body would not drop that drasticly that fast.

Good luck to you!

Remember a faint positive is still a positive. Either wait a few more days or go have blood work done to find out for sure. I took 5 home test and got 3 positive 1 negative and one didn't even work LOL but i wanted to be sure but best bet with out spending allot of money is just waiting it out.

Try again with another test - could be a false negative. False positives are very rare.
Good luck

I'd take another test tomorrow morning. It's either that the test today just didn't pick up on it for some reason, or that you were beginning to implant and then stopped. About 50% of fertilized eggs don't implant correctly, and that's why I stopped testing before my period, I don't want to know if that happens.

Your urine was probably more dilute this am than it was yesterday. Don't worry! I am sure you are pregnant, if you are anxious call your doc and ask if you can have a beta hCG done, I am sure they will put an order in for you to just have a lab appointment to have this done.
