First, let me state that I did not -- and do not -- approve of our Idiot King's bogus "war" in Iraq. We were deceived by him and by 5-D Cheney and by that fool Rumsfeld, and I hold EVERY politician who went along with this accountable.
That said, we are there, and if we *are* in a war, we must treat it like a war. That is the only way to win. Warfare is *not* police action, and it isn't neat. It's ugly, dirty and horrible, and it must be fought to this scale.

I also believe that our current "rules of engagement" if you will, is largely part of the problem. However, what can we do?
Yea, possibly me you and a few could turn on the news and hear that our soldiers have taken out a building and killed dozens and see the benefits for the long run. But most people are too sheepish for this and since war is a media affair more than ANYTHING else, it has to be censored and like you said, we have to fight with one hand tied behind our back, so we don't offend the children.
We have the BEST fighting men in all the WORLD and possibly in the entire universe. We need to get down to business, get rough and dirty for a bit and enjoy peace after. Beats dragging on a fake war for almost a decade.

I love how igi actually thinks thats possible. I also have a problem fighting a war like that. Reminds me of Mogadishu where enemy combatants would hide behind woman and children, leaving us unable to fire back.

Having rules in war is absurd its not like we have refs on the side lines thorwing flags for penalities, fight until its over and then sort out who did what, its far to easy for non combatants to judge what they have no idea of then to just go to all out war, wars are for killing and destruction thats what they do

I say, take the rules out and place all calls on the military commanders that are there. We are hunting people there. If there is a stand up fight, we slaughter them. Get the media out, get the UN out, get the liberals policies out and let out troops do their job. Make the terrorists fear us.

We have to be aware of Friendly causalities,,, it does not look good when we kill the people we are there to protect. It's hard for us soldiers and marines to deal with, but we are not going to win their confidence killing them and the bad guys know it, therefore they hide behind them. Still, we will get them, it is just a matter of time.

Rules of engagement could be deadly to soldiers who fight legitimately in battles because they are exposed to danger as against their enemies. The principle must be "an eye for eye" or "life for life".

The rules of engagement should be looked down upon in times like this. A navy seal friend of mine(Marcus Luttrell) who has a new book out revealed many truths about war in Afghanistan.
Him and his outfit stumbled upon approximately 100 militants and could nothing about it but hold their place. Well, to make a long story short, the entire unit was lost with the exception of him. You should check it out sometime.

Since when has the US Government followed any sort of rules? Especially lately. If we do anything that's even remotely logical (like getting the hell out of there like we should've done 4 year ago) we'd be "cutting and running".

If you take out the building you take out innocent people because the enemy is not fighting under the rules of engagement.
