Earthquakes and forrest fires, especially in the Eastern part of the state where it is more desert-like. The last "Big" earthquake was back in the early 60's, although one in 2001 was fairly good size, but not much damage.

Earthquakes are the number one natural disaster threat. There's supposedly going to be a huge one that will destroy the city and kill a lot of the people. Other than that, all you have to worry about is hurricanes and how often do those happen on the west coast? Not a lot, especially in the north. Although tsunamis could be dangerous. You also have to watch out for volcanic eruptions and forest fires as well.

We do have earthquakes from time to time. We do get the occasional windstorm here off the Pacific; we got hit with a nasty one last December that knocked out power to well over a million people in the area. The area is heavily forested, so forest fires can be a problem when it gets dry (which, fortunately, is rare). Plus, there's this little ol' hill - 14,410 feet at the summit - sitting south of Seattle called "Mt. Rainier," that's an active volcano... You might want to keep an eye on that ;-)

Earthquakes: absolutely.
Tsunamis: not likely on Puget Sound. Out at the coast, though, yes.
Volcanoes: overexaggerated. Some communites in the South Sound area along the river valleys are in danger, but not Seattle itself or towns on the hills really.
Tornadoes: Extremely unlikely. Minor ones are possible, but extremely rare freaks of nature.
Hurricanes: It would take the freakiest of circumstances to pull this off. No worries at all.
Bottom line: It's generally safe here, with the very real exception of earthquakes.

Tsunami! Seattle is some what protected by Puget Sound.
However, Tsunamis come in all sizes. The last one did damage only at the docks as I recall.
Mud slides! As Seattle continues to over build; hilly regions will become even more susceptible to mud slides. Seattle is the rainiest city in the continental U.S.

Volcanoes - if Mt. Rainer ever blew like Mt St. Helens did - Seattle would be in for a world of hurt.
