My sister-in-law learned that two women were buying the house next door and said: "If that`s the case, I`ll move. I`m not living next to a couple of Lebanese!"

The ones who have replied so far did not get the humour.
Two ladies = lesbians.
Lebanese = wrong word by mistake for the above.

No, I wasn`t trying to be funny, it really happened, and they did not buy the house anyway.
Am I wasting my time here?

Yes, she is being prejudice whether it's someone's sexual preferences or race.

It can be classed as prejudicial - although as far as it being racial - well, were they any color but her color? If not, then no, it's not about race, it's about sexual preference. However, your SIL said she would move as it is her that has a problem with it, not that she would boycott her new neighbors or try to prevent them from buying the house, so she is taking responsiblity for her thoughts and beliefs.

As it is, it sounds like all turned out okay as the home wasn't purchased by the Lesbians a/k/a Labenese. LOL.

We all have our quirks and ideas that we get on our soap box about.

It is the worst type of racial, cultural prejudice. Now, did she MEAN Lebanese, or did she mean Lesbian? Either way, she is making a presumption of 'bad' due to their race or to their lifestyle, instead of having an open mind, being interested in a couple of new people on the block, and hoping they are nice, clean, and take care of the lawn! (Normal things people consider about new neighbors).

Actually, I would class it as ethnic prejudice if the two women are in fact Lebanese (this is an ethnicity, not a race).

If, on the other hand, your sister-in-law merely misspoke and meant to say "lesbians" then it is prejudice based on sexual orientation.

If, finally, you are just trying to be funny, lame attempt.

It would be unfair and hurtful to assume living next to lesbians would be any different than living next to a straight couple. Lebanese, on the the other hand, well then I would understand why she would want to move.

It certainly sounds like prejudice and discrimination to me. If your sister in law does not want to live next to someone because of her preconceived ideas of their sexual preference. How did she know what their sexual preference was anyway? Seems to me your sister in law has entirely too much time on her hands, she needs to get a life... God bless****

Actually it's ignorance. I'd help them pack! Seeing as how my father (RIP) was Lebanese. People are so stupid! I wouldn't want to live next door to her anyway - and not because of her race or nationality - more for her dAngerous ignorant attitude! She should go to hell!

Yes it is, in the worst way!! This drives me crazy. She doesn't even know them and hasn't even given them an opportunity to see what they are about. Sounds like "she" does need to move to give those ladies a fair chance.

You're not wasting your time, that was hilarious. Did someone feel compelled to note that it is prejudice, not the Lebanese? :)
