You would have to take out McGuires 71 homerun season then.

Nobody cannot erase any of Barry's records, because if steroid use was evident at that specific time, it was technically "legal" to use.

Bud Selig and MLB are to blame because they did not ban or make those drugs illegal. If they were illegal, then penalties like suspensions or straight up getting banned from the game would have been served.

Barry's record stands and will do so until the next player passes his total up.

No, because "the record books" are simply that -- a recording of history, of what happened. Editing the truth for some political agenda never helps the greater good, and really, don't we have more than enough fascism already?

Besides, the general notion behind taking Chemical X is to play better and win more. There are KNOWN instances of the opposite -- NOT trying to win -- and those remain, and will continue to remain, part of baseball's accurate historical record. The 1919 World Series is the best known example; those box scores stand forever, as they should.

it should not be stricken from the record book or even an asterik placed. The fact is people they were never against the rules of baseball. The commissioner can't come back 10 yrs later and say whoops my predecessors and I made a huge mistake, let us have a do-over. You would have to take out alot of records and alot of awards if you were to do this.

No they will not take the record out, as they shouldnt. But here is something to think about: how many of the 400+ pitchers that Barry homered off of were "juiced" when they were pitching to him?

And have the equally tarnished record of 70 or even Sosa's 66 be the records? It's not like McGwire and Sosa were clean.

Yes. All steroid users lose everything - even the stuff they did before steroids. That is the price you pay for cheating the game of it's integrity.

PETE ROSE WAS A MANAGER BETTING ON GAMES. It was HIS OWN FAULT. He know it was against the rules and didn't care. I'm sick of people talking about him and trying to defend him.
Was Steroids illegal in baseball? No, and even if it was baseball was turning a blind eye. Selig only cared and got the issue made because he has a man crush on Aaron.

They should only remove the stats from the time they can PROVE he was using (we all know he is) and they were illegal. If he gets caught today then you remove his stats from now back to his last passed drug test.

Remember its MLB that dragged their feet on making steroids illegal for years when everybody knew usage was widespread.

I doubt that they're gonna remove the record, its just a number, and who knows what other records have been completed by cheating?
