Not the same.
The Bush policy, like it or not, is common knowledge. He is the politician we always demanded. One who did what he said he would do. Now that we have one, we want to hang him from the nearest tree.
The democrats have not articulated what they would do. They either don't know, don't want to say or said they would do what they know they can't.
Yesterday's democratic debate:
Edwards: 'Now is not the time to say something that would limit our options.' (Waiting for Fortress hedge fund orders?)
Kucinich: 'The debate is polarizing and candidates are being excluded.' (good)
Obama: 'Bring all US troops home, attack Pakistan.' (Huh?)
Graves: 'Cheney should be committed.' (Is he in a chat room?)
Richardson: '1:Bring all troops home now. 2: Set up oil sharing 3: Set up a parliamentary government. 4: Train and build an Iraqi police force. 5 Train and equip a viable Iraqi military' (How do you do all that if you bring all the troops home now?)
Biden: '1. Bring all the troops home now. 2. Divide the country up into thirds. (How do you divide a country without troops?)'
Dodd: 'This current administration's policies have failed, I would not continue down this disastrous path.' (and?)
Hillary: 'Blah blah blah blah.' (zzzzzzz)

Bush has the old "that's my story and I'm sticking to it" syndrome. Unfortunately, he didn't even read his own father's book. Sad, because he said there would be no way for us to win that situation and it would be a long term occupation with no easy strategic exit.
Bush listened to too much bad advice from advisor's who had too many business interests who made lots of money because of the war. Just another reason to get rid of lobbyist. All have their own personal agenda and the bottom line is the bottom line.
The Dems have their hands tied and are in bad situation. The US population wants our troops out of Iraq because they see it as a no win situation and is an internal civil situation now. There is no dictator - just religious warring. We should not be involved in that type of war. Let them fight it out as it is absolutely none of our business.
The Republican plan for immigration amnesty is just another symptom of the Bush government inability to listen to the public. No one in their right mind wanted that stupid bill. There was so much wrong with that plan that anyone promoting it should be taken out to the shed and switched.
I think we should put limits on campaign spending. No personal money, no company money, no donated money. What ever the tax payers put down on their taxes as their deductible amount for campaigns should be divided by two and only that amount used by each party. Local politicians should have to get out and do the old fashion campaign stumping. TV could and should handle and pay for debates. The moderator should responsible for trying to control things but the audience should ask the questions. That way no one would be able to buy an election and we would get answers to the questions most citizens are asking.
Sorry to get off the original question.

The Democrats have a plan to get out, Bush really does not. In fact, he stated that the troops will remain in Iraq through January 2009.

McCain will cut back much greater taxes. What does that recommend? we won't pay for necessary government centers now and it would be worse with Mccain. If one think of s we don't could desire to develop gross revenues, ie taxes, they are residing in a fantasy international and have no clue with connection with elementary economics. i might hate to confirm your checkbook sign in!

Bush has no policy. He just keeps feeding fuel to the fire. Going to war without a realistic winning strategy is yet another example of the incompetence of the current administration.

for all the mudslinging no dems have took the gut to say they'll stop war. They are bullied by the arguments that iraqis are inferior to us and would all kill each other if not for your benevolent gun.
