Comedy is much much MUCH harder. The timing in comedy is such that if it isn't precise, things aren't less funny, they're downright not funny at all. In drama you can lengthen a pause or shorten it and an effect can be amplified or dulled, not so with comedy

For the first time I disagree with theaterdoc. I say comedy is a LOT harder. No one has ever agreed with my reason. With drama you have a lot more choices that can work. In comedy everything has to work the way it's supposed to or it's not funny.

Well, I will say this........there are a lot of dramatic actors who have tried to do comedy, who are not funny because they don't have the timing for comedy. As an actor you should be able to do both, but some people are not meant for comedy.

It really depends on what comes more naturally for you. Some people are better at dramatic scenes, while others are better at comedic. Personally, I have a harder time with drama, but I love dramatic scenes, because I like a challenge.

Comedy is harder. It takes a certain skill to make people laugh. If you can make people laugh, one will have the skill to make them cry.
Just ask a few comedians-turned-actors. i'm thinking of one in particular but i can't remember his name. He was in "that 70's show" then in "Guardian"

Neither, really. Acting is acting. It doesn't matter what the play is, the actor is required to do the same thing. Some actors have preferences, but neither is more difficult in the sense of what acting is. For clarification, read my book, The Tao of Acting, Chapter Two, Acting Is Easy.

drama probobly because you have to be so dramatic with out laughing. And a lot of times you have to start crying and that takes a lot of practice to start crying on the spot with ou any reason.
