handerande: that was reason why congress and senate stuck on illegals, because those who sit there, own those companies who hire illegals.

It boggles my mind why people are obsessed with this issue. Laws are on the books, but seldom enforced. If enforcenment is increased, the problem will decrease.
In Wisconsin, thousands of people are hired every year from overseas, mostly Europe, to fill seasonal jobs at Wisconsin Dells, and other tourist hotspots. The difference between these people and people from Mexico is that they are sponsored by thier employers. By sponsoring these people, companies are responsible for the welfare of each person, providing room and board, a legal, living wage and transportation to and from the United States. They sign a contract sanctioned by the US government, to fullfill the obligations both sides agree to. This is the difference between these temporary employees, and illegal immigrants. The company that eventually hires these illegal immigrants, if they followed the law, would be responsible for hiring and transporting them, and once here, responsible for thier room and board, and when finished, transportation back to the country of origin. The sole reason US companies don't follow the existing law, is because of the bottom line, or profit. If the same hiring proceedure were implemented for Mexican citizens, there would be no illegal crossing of the border for work. This is not just common sense, it IS the law. If a US company complies with the existing law, in regards to workers from other countries, the demand for illegal immigrants goes to zero. Even the term "illegal immigrants" is wrong because most illegal immigrants come here only to work, and then go back to thier home country. They are not really immigrating, they are trying to survive. If American companies follow the letter of the law, Illegal immigration would be down to a trickle. Who in the hell would cross a desert just to get to a country where they invite arrest and deportation, when a legal channel exists for them to work in our country legally? It all rests on our enforcement of existing laws. If a business won't follow the law, they are the ones who should be arrested and convicted for promoting illegal immigration. With compliance of the law, real immigration would have the pressure of illegal immigration cease to a trickle. Guest workers would have a big burden lifted, and more than not have a good experience with employment, rather than having to hide every time a law enforcement officer drives past them. Guest workers pay US tax, so, once again, it is the US companies greed for not following the existing law, and not paying into the US treasury, the taxes deducted from paychecks.

People are in the process of taking care of it. The US citizenry made it clear this summer that they are against the government's current policy, which is basically to allow an open border and ignore the illegals coming in.

Over time, the people will take care of it at the ballot box, by voting "out" those lawmakers who refuse to do the right thing about illegal immigration, and voting in those who will take care of it properly

That's the way democracy works, and since this is a large issue, it will take more time.

Simple boycott those companies who hire illegals.
Go pay that extra buck or two to the contractors who hire legals.
Local cities should pass laws that if anyone rents to illegals they fine and lose their businesses licenses in that town.

If there is no demand for illegals they won't be here.

The government could take care of it if it only would. And aren't we people supposedly the government. Call and or write all your Congressmen. GWB surely isn't going to do anything about it. We need to secure our borders. If we people start taking care of it, then we will end up in jail. Ironic, isn't it?
