I realize that perhaps the question should be 'why do the rest of the states HAVE daylight savings time?' but I am already aware of the reasoning behind this. I would like to know on what grounds Arizona disagrees with the reasoning; in other words, why they are different.

They already have enough daylight -- they don't need to save any of it.

Really. The further south you go, the more even the days and nights are, so the less need there is for DST. Plus, a lot of Arizona people are farmers, and farmers don't like DST. They need to get up before dawn, no matter what the clock says.

The question should be, why do New Mexico, Texas, etc. use DST?

Arizona does have Daylight Savings Time; well, at least that part of Arizona called the Navajo Indian Nation does. I have to agree with morningfoxnorth, the real question is why (does any other state) have DST?

States have the right to decide whether they want to observe daylight savings time or not and Arizona chose not to. I looked at Google (various sites), but they don't have an explanation in any of those sites.

They voted against it. That's it. It was put on a ballot once and that was the result.
