No, fundamental theory says energy can't be created or destroyed. As to where it came from in the first place, no one knows. :)

[Edit] In response to Scott H:

He's right in that energy can be transformed into matter, but it can't be destroyed. Even if you convert it, there are the laws of conservation of matter and conservation of energy, so over all the answer is still no, it can't be destroyed.

If you belive that energy and mass are two different things, then energy can be converted to mass according to Einstein's famous equation E = m c^2. An example of this is when a high energy gamma ray is converted into pair of particles (a particle and its anti-particle) e.g. an electron and a positron, in a way that all conservation laws and symmetry are obeyed.

Energy is a phenomena which is the result of the amount of time that has ocurred during a power transfer.
The power stored in the Universe is a constant ,Therefore the Energy content of the Universe also constant.
That has been verified by the law of conservation of Energy.

energy can not be created nor destroyed. If it were gone be eliminated once we have used it, we will not be alive right now because we need energy to live. i think this is a good proof for the theory.

you're a extremely perplexed guy or woman. Why do not you depart physics to the physicists? - it quite is quite needless to say not your territory. yet you could actual take in and concentrate on Crystal Skullology, a terrain, so a techniques as i'm conscious, it is thoroughly virginal and packed with promise. sturdy success.
