It can mean you have violated the rules or just someone does not like an answer to your question. use swear words make it more likely to get one, but sometimes it is just someone being silly. There is no appeal

I asked (in martial arts section) if anyone was like me and preferred to do Tai Chi to the tunes of rock music. That got me a violation believe it or not. What it meant to me is that i lost a little more respect for Yahoo since i really can't see why it should be even be considered an offensive question.

That a mean-spirited person decided that they did not like your answer to their question and reported you for abuse. I've gotten 3 since I've been on Yahoo and I don't think I deserved them.
Also, trolls are out for fun to see how many people they can destroy so their accounts can be deleted.
I have not ever used the report abuse since I've been here. If I find an answer that is vulgar or insulting, I just give a thumbs down so I don't have to be subjected to the filth.

It means some CHILD or TROLL or complete IDIOT has taken exception to your question/ answer/ comment/ avatar photo or is just having a hate-em-all day and yahoo answers, being what it is, automatically sends out a violation notice to you rather than actually bothering to CHECK to see if the report of abuse is genuine or justified or warranted!!!!
My advice is Fight each and every violation notice you get. Email back to customer service and speak to them in the condescending manner they deserve!!

It means that either you violated the rules, or someone was a jerk and reported you because they didn't like what you said.
It usually takes more than one report for you to get a violation - otherwise your account would get cancelled for doing anything other than agreeing 100% with every troll moron on yahoo! questions.

I have only had about 3 or 4 one I could just about see why but the others the reasons given did not make any sense at all

It means that someone flagged your question or answer as inappropriate. It was probably a troll. If you figure out who it was simply block their access to your file, that way you don't get thrown off and have to start over:~)

I don't know why they don't use mods on here to delete the bad stuff a quick email to the offender a lot of the nasty comments would stop

Some folks report you if you don't agree with their opinion.
I only got one that I feel I deserved. I have tried to fight some of them, but Yahoo doesn't reconsider.

It means someone took an exception to something you said. I just got one and don't even remember what it was I said.
