when im on my heaviest i sleep with overnights. they are very goood and i sleep with old blankets ( period blankets) they are just for when im on my period. so if you leak u will be ok. Also what i do for back pain is hot pads they help sooooo much, i fall asleep faster when im cramping and stay asleep longer too. Try sleeping on your side. i have very bad periods so i know what you are talking about!!!
I hope this helps :)

I have dealing with very heavy periods for the longest time. I always used overnight pads, but still, by morning i had accidents. Now, for the first two nights I use super plus tampon, plus the overnight pad. No problem since than. Make sure you don't let it inside more than 8 hours. In addition , if your back hurts when you sleep on your stomach , have a body pillow, it woks.

Take a midol/pamprin or some other pain reliever before bed.. Take a nice shower and I have "period sheets" and I use a heating pad.. If you are really worried why not try a depends if you are worried about pads leaking.. It's just for a few nights.... good luck

Try sleeping on your back with a long overnight pad with wings. You should be fine even on your heavy nights

Wear the overnight thick pads...you can even put two on back to back so it goes all the way up and covers your bottom, that way if you leak, it will be caught. I used to bleed so heavy and I would lay on my back, but the overnight pads worked great!

My back bothers me too when I am at my heavy times. I try to sleep on my side with a pillow to keep my from turning onto my stomach. This seems to work.

If you need to, you could use another pad and sleep on your back. But during those times, I find it more comfortable to sleep on my side.

I find that if I use a tampon and a overnight pad as well it is pretty much a sure fire solution. Also for the pain I fill a hot water bottle and then lay on my front/side with it wedged under my tummy or abdomen. It really helps me.
