Depends on the shack, depends on the slum and depends on the country of the slum & shack.
You can make a shack in a slum in any country for nothing with old boards & scrap metal. Dangerous - well what do you think ?

I have read newspaper articles about abandoned houses in Detroit being auctioned for less than $10,000. To buy something in Haiti probably costs $12,000 or $15,000, you know, because the weather is better.
