Pay attention in class, do the work... THEN think about going to the college football/basketball/baseball etc. games, or parties, or just visiting friends in the student union or at a nearby park or to go shopping...
All the things after THEN ought to be in second place to your studies. It's by feeling confident and by knowing your college studies that you will eventually attract good friends.
good luck, and get around to a little fun when you can, when the homework is done! oh, and you can join study groups too, a good way to get homework done and maybe make a friend or two as well.

When you first go to college/university you're going to be all self conscience about if people are going to like you and will you fit in? This is common and everyone feels this way at one time or another... Just relax and be yourself there are some many people just talk to people in your dorm, lunch or classes.. You are bound to find someone to connect with, and most importantly study and find some interests..... good luck

Colleges and universities tend to award higher grades to those students that act like grown ups and use the English language properly.

college is nothing like school! its so much more laid back and enjoyable. everyone on your course will be interested in the same thing as you ( or should be lol ) so you tend to get along better with people... as people are older aswell you dont get as much of the childishness as you do in school. just study and dont go wasting it... or you will regret it in the long run... but im sure you will enjoy yourself aswell ... :D

I can tell you right now, you would not have enjoyed your life in any classes I taught in college with your atrocious spelling. That would have been enough to fail my Psychology classes. By the way, "college" is "school".

Go into it with an open mind, and just try and have fun. But don't forget to put the work in at the same time!
