It's not just 1000*365*24*60*60, due to leap years. In a thousand years, there are 250 years that are divisible by 4. Not all of them are leap years, because years divisible by 100 but not divisible by 400 are not leap years; for example, the years 1800 and 1900 were not leap years, but 2000 was one and 2400 will be. During 2001-3000, there will be 8 non-leap-year turn-of-the-century years, so there will be 242 leap years and therefore 242 extra days that the original formula would have overlooked. Thus, the number of seconds during that thousand years will be ((1000*365 + 242)*24*60*60 = 31556908800. It could be different for a different thousand years, due to the pattern of leap years. For example, 1001-2000 had only 7 non-leap-year turn-of-the-century years.

There are approximately leap years. If the year is divisible by 4, but not a hundred, but by 400 then it is a leap year. So in a thousand years there are 248 or 249 leap years). You didn't specify where the 1000 years starts.

So
1000 * 365 + 249 * 1 = 365249 days * 86400 = 31557513600 seconds
1000 * 365 + 248 * 1 = 365248 days * 86400 = 31557427200 seconds

In a thousand years, there are 3.1538 X 10^10 seconds.
There are 86,400 seconds in a day. Multiply that by 365 (days a year) and then multiply the answer by 1000, and wa-lah!
The answer is 3.1538 X 10^10

I hope this is right: 315,380,000,000

I've read your Q. and have read every ones answer. And to be honest with you I'm SHOCKED to see that SOME people till this day still don't know their Mathematics!!!!! LMFAO!!!!!
So here is MY answer!

60 sec. in 1 min.
60 min. in 1 hr.=36,000 sec.

36,000 sec =1hr
x 24 hr = 1 day
__________
864,000 sec = 1 day
x 365 day = 1 yr
__________
315,360,000, sec in a yr
x 1,000 yr
______________
315,360,000,000 sec
- 212,800,000 sec/ due to the 250 leap year days
315,147,200,000

one year = 365.24 days
1000 years app 365240 days
one day = 86400 secs
